Stephanie Scafa is a Senior Advisor at Truman, serving as the primary point of contact for internal and external constituencies on all matters pertaining to the Office of the President. She most recently held positions with the U.S. Department of State’s Africa Bureau, U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service, and Truman National Security Project’s Membership Team.
Prior to pivoting her career to international affairs, Stephanie spent over a decade at the City of Eugene, Oregon in a variety of roles that advanced the city’s sustainability, diversity, and inclusion goals. Career highlights include: serving as the city liaison to the World Track and Field Championships Oregon22, where she led the city’s strategic direction to leverage Host City status for a 10-day international sporting event; implementing the U.S. Department of State’s Young Southeast Asia Leadership Initiative to offer cross-cultural technical exchanges between city staff and young professionals from Southeast Asia; and managing the solid waste and green building team, which launched numerous innovative systems-change initiatives such as Love Food Not Waste, the city’s commercial and residential food waste collection program.
Stephanie holds Master’s degrees from George Washington University and University of Oregon. She served as a volunteer in the Peace Corps (Ghana, 2005-2007) and AmeriCorps (rural Oregon, 2008-2009 and 2011-2012) and is dedicated to a career in public service.
