WASHINGTON D.C. - Truman Center for National Policy 501(c)(3) and Truman National Security Project 501(c)(4) are proud to welcome Jon Temin as Vice President of Policy and Programs.
In this critical role, Temin will lead programs for the Truman Center. He will also oversee the implementation of all grant requirements and activities; guide the organization’s policy priorities, research and publications; and manage a combination of full-time staff and part-time visiting senior fellows.
“We are thrilled to welcome Jon to the senior leadership team as Truman’s first Vice President of Policy and Programs,” said Jenna Ben-Yehuda, Truman’s President and CEO. “Jon’s extensive contributions at the intersection of human rights, democracy, and foreign policy make him a perfect fit for Truman at a moment when challenges to America’s own democracy threaten our national security. We look forward to welcoming this experienced strategist and manager as we continue to grow.”
Most recently, Temin worked as the Director of Freedom House’s Africa program, overseeing the organization’s efforts to advance democracy and human rights across the continent. Prior roles also include working as a member of the U.S. Department of State’s Policy Planning Staff and Director of the U.S. Institute of Peace’s Africa Program.
“The Truman Center and Truman members across the country are at the leading edge of redefining national security and generating ideas for more effective foreign policy - and then turning those ideas into action,” said Temin. “I look forward to working with this talented team and network to incorporate a wide range of voices in the discussion and to maximize impact.”
Temin has written for The New York Times, Washington Post, Financial Times, Foreign Affairs, and Foreign Policy, and has testified before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and House Foreign Affairs Committee. Formerly, he was a Fulbright Fellow in Ghana, Visiting Fellow at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, and term member of the Council on Foreign Relations. He is currently a non-resident Senior Associate at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
