Joint Statement from Truman National Security Project and Truman Center

The Truman National Security Project and Truman Center for National Policy strongly condemn the attempted assassination of former President Trump and all political violence. We call for a transparent and speedy investigation. As the investigation proceeds, we urge restraint and renewed efforts to bridge ideological divides. We also advise caution in an environment of widespread misinformation and disinformation.

Now is a time for healing, not further division or a rush to judgment. Rejecting polarization and violent rhetoric, and embracing unity, is vital to the health of our union and our national security. As Americans, we share a common belief that violence has no place in our electoral system or our democracy.
