Kristen Kavanaugh is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and a former Marine Corps Captain who deployed to Iraq. She later co-founded the Military Acceptance Project, a California-based social justice organization dedicated to promoting acceptance of marginalized populations within the military. She is now the CEO, President, and Owner of her own consulting firm.
Kristen joined Truman as a member of the Defense Council with the class of 2013. She is a co-founder and co-leader of Truman’s San Diego chapter, the newest of 17 chapters located across the country. In her capacity as a chapter leader, Kristen leads chapter meetings, spearheads recruitment efforts, and organizes chapter fact-finding missions to explore San Diego’s relevant sectors to national security, including immigration and cybersecurity.
