Summary:

Do you thrive on organizing data and making it more useful to others?  Do you have a favorite excel formula?  Do you long for the chance to work with young colleagues who grew up in the digital age and know what a “cookie” is?  The Truman National Security Project seeks a motivated Data Manager to provide technical and human support for effective data input, management, and access across our organization.  Our ideal candidate will thrive in a start-up environment, have data management and non-profit experience, and a strong record of success in managing data for public outreach, membership, or targeted advocacy campaigns.  The ability to be extremely responsive to staff while working on different projects in a fast-paced environment is required.

Basic Functions:

  • Manage, organize, and maintain the Truman Project’s Salsa database that supports our leadership development and advocacy programs.
  • Maintain and improve data organization structures to ensure the Truman Project website displaying and information properly to the user.
  • Work directly with Truman staff to understand their data needs and help them deliver results.
  • Improve data collection, entry, and reporting systems to improve efficiencies and work closely with staff to develop and implement data management procedures.
  • Manage membership lists and perform basic data manipulation and reporting via Microsoft Excel.
  • Coordinate timelines and activities for multiple projects at once.
  • Work directly with Truman staff and senior leadership to design collection and reporting methods for program evaluation data.
  • Limited network management and IT support.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with Excel and file manipulation in Windows a must.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with CMS systems such as Salsa, VAN, and NGP.
  • Diplomatic, professional approach to problem solving while working independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to manage several tasks and projects concurrently and prioritize work effectively. 
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong commitment to Truman values.

Compensation:

Salary is commensurate with experience. Benefits include health, dental, vision and 401K.
